Intra e il suo skyline all’epoca della fondazione del CAI Verbano
“E’ detto, all’inizio, dello stupore che suscitano le incredibili e numerose iniziative della Sezione Verbano in quegli anni e degli artefici che le hanno realizzate. E’ detto anche che quelle iniziative riflettono una realtà cittadina ricca ed operosa, da cui protagonisti provengono gli artefici delle opere considerate”[1].
Quale era dunque il contesto? Con la veduta del Litta siamo intorno alla metà Ottocento, qualche lustro prima della fondazione della Sezione CAI Verbano, ed il dettaglio esecutivo racconta non solo di una città in evoluzione con evidenti il suo profilo edilizio, i volumi dei manufatti industriali, le infrastrutture lacuali, la vita sul lago, ma immortala anche quello skyline delle montagne (Monterosso, Corte Lorenzo, Proman, Pernice, Piancavallone, Marona, Zeda e Cimolo), mete primigenie del fervore alpino della Sezione, linea duratura del paesaggio che ancora oggi impronta la nostra frequentazione di prossimità partendo dalle cittadine verbanesi.

“At the beginning, it is said that there is a sense of awe aroused by the incredible and numerous initiatives of the Verbano Group in those years and of the creators who carried them out. It is also said that those initiatives reflect a rich and industrious town reality, from whose leading figures came the creators of the works in question”[2].
So, what was the context? The view of the Litta is from somewhere around the middle of the 19th century, a few decades before the foundation of the CAI, Verbano Group; and the detail shows not only a town that was evolving with the profile of its buildings, the great number of industrial products, the quite noticeable lake infrastructures, the life on the lake, but it also immortalises the mountains in the skyline (Monterosso, Corte Lorenzo, Proman, Pernice, Piancavallone, Marona, Zeda and Cimolo), the primary destinations of the Alpine fervor of our Group, an age-old landscape that still today marks our nearby excursions setting off from the small towns in the Verbania area.
